Are you looking for fun and motivating ways to teach your students American History? Students will use American History comic books to teach American history. You will also learn how to create an audio podcast that can be posted online for free. Students will develop and implement ten lesson plans for using American history comic books (the purchase of American History Comic Books is required for this class, available at www.amazon.com for $9.59 or from www.scholastic.com for $9.00.

How will this course help educators to meet the Common Core State
This course addresses multiple ELA standards because students will read, write, and research, after reading American History Comics.
How with this course benefit my classroom instruction and student learning
This course will give teachers a creative resource to teach American history via comics. At the end of each comic, there are a series of text-based questions, as well as questions that require independent research and extended writing prompts.
The comics can also be used to create podcasts of the kids acting out the comics, integrating technology and performing arts.
Websites are given to expand learning for each of the comics.
